What we can learn from Paul’s own accounts of his Conversion

(Read Acts 22 and 26 for Paul’s accounts of how he came to Christ. Luke tells it in the third person in Acts 9)

1. Salvation cannot be earned. It is a free gift.

2. When the god of this age puts a veil of unbelief that stops salvation, the removal of that veil by Jesus brings about salvation. (See also 2 Corinthians 4: 4-6)

3. Salvation comes by God’s call.

4. God’s call goes exactly where and how he decides.

5. Salvation manifests in servanthood.

6. The Gospel is for those with whom we would not by nature bother, or for those who irritate or infuriate us.

7. God’s boundaries are international.

8. God is incorporated within those whom he saves. There is a mystical union between Christ and the faithful, so that he hurts when they hurt.
