How to Test Prophecy

Note that no true prophecy can contradict the Bible.

Neither can it have the effect of adding to the revelation of the Bible Revelation 22: 18

Neither can it have the effect of removing something from the Bible. Revelation 22: 19

1 Thessalonians 5: 19-21 says that we should test prophecies.

Jeremiah 23: 21 refers to false prophets.

Recognizing Prophetic Activity

People do not always know they are prophesying.

People do not always know they are hearing the prophetic.

Can come as deliberate prophecy in speech or song.

It can come through as the compelling applied preaching of Scripture.

It can be associated with dreams, visions, and impressions.

But they are always interpreted.
