Towards
City Transformation
God
plans to see cities revived, even though terrorists, both earthly and
demonic, seek to cause damage. The evidence for a revival is that a city,
town or region has begun to change to reflect the character of Christ.
Does it happen any more? If so, how?
On Sunday 16th we
are screening a video at church, Transformations II. This is the account
of fundamental change in several communities and countries. This has all
happened recently. God still does “revivals”! How do we prepare for one
here?.
1
Prayer We are to get ready by persevering prayer. We need to
become a people hungry and desperate for God’s next move.
2
Unity
There will be a unity of Christians and churches praying in
unity for God to move in their area. This is cross-denominational.
3
Repentant Life-style The people praying need to receive on-going
cleansing, which is manifested in real inner transformation.
4
Spiritual Warfare The prayer activity will include a warfare
against evil spiritual forces which have held strongholds over the area
(Ephesians 3: 10 & 6: 10-18).
5
Prophetic Sensitivity There is a prophetic guidance from God.
“Surely the Lord God does nothing, without revealing his secret to his
servants the prophets.” (Amos 3: 7). History shows that God has his own
special seasons to move. Prophecy shows how God is moving. All prophecy
needs to be tested by Bible teaching, and true prophecy will be recognised
by wide acceptance.
6
Alignment of Ministries There will be a pastoral and apostolic
leadership order that coordinates prophetically-driven action (Ephesians
4: 11-16). God communicates strategies with which different churches can
freely choose to cooperate. Love, humility and prayerful team work are
essential. Cooperation and leadership is not confined within a denomination
or parish,
7
Expectancy from God God sovereignly decides when he will move,
but in preparation he is right now calling forth and initiating, a confident
expectation that he is “on the move” for a special season. That expectation
will lead to fervent faith praying, and faithful preaching of the Cross.
