Christ
Equips us with his promises and his enabling for a new day
The promises that
Jesus made were not of a temporary nature. They address very type of situation
into which his first disciples or we ourselves could be placed.
In Luke 11: 1-13 we
read several promises which Christ made. Let us remember that that all
that Christ says is true. “In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom
and knowledge.” (Colossians 2: 2-3)
Whatever Jesus says
is central, permanent, liberating, and profoundly comforting to the eye
of faith.
What of the promises
in Luke 11?
The
Lord’s Prayer gives five requests that the Father will honour:
(1) His authority
be established.
(2) His Kingdom will come.
(3) He will give us our”daily bread”: Food, clothing, shelter, accommodation,
health, work, provision, education for our children, relationships.
(4) He will forgive our sins.
(5) He will protect us from being enslaved by temptation.
The
Father will surely answer the prayers of the desperate. We
very easily think that our own situation is desperate, and that God will
not or cannot answer. Sometimes we fear rejection by the Father, but Jesus
said that the Father will always answer us.
The
Father will give to all who ask for the types of things which his Word
indicates we should pray for.
The
Father will give Holy Spirit Anointing, enabling or empowering to all
who continue to ask him.
